Statement on racism

Recent incidents in our country, including the brutal and senseless killing of George Floyd, have resurfaced the on-going issue of systemic racism against Black Americans. We all have a responsibility to take a stand against racism and injustice. It is not enough to not be racist, we must be anti-racist.  We know that there is a desire for action from our constituents for change to come. Our campaign will be a part of that change. Being Pride Month, we must also recognize the need to stand with and for members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as to emphasize that the intersectionality of identities compounds injustices. Incidents like the shooting death of Tony McDade, a black trans man, is just one example of the devastation that Black and LGBTQ+ individuals face.

Our general election is now officially underway. Be on the lookout for further campaign announcements. We recognize that these are troubling times and that individuals have undergone grave financial impact due to Covid-19 but we want to make you aware of ways to support the campaign financially if you are able to do so. We want to help fuel our people-focused campaign to make Indiana a better place for ALL Hoosiers. Our campaign is also offering Pride yard signs. Order yours here or donate at

Cindy Reinert Pledges to Support Congressional Term Limits

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the national, non-partisan movement to limit terms for elected officials, is gathering support from state lawmakers across the nation. Its mission is to get 34 states to apply for an amendment proposal convention specific to term limits on Congress. 2020 Indiana state house candidate, Cindy Reinert (district 58), has committed support for term limits on Congress by signing the Term Limits Convention pledge. Reinert is the first signer in this race. The primary is scheduled for May 5, 2020.

USTL President, Philip Blumel, commented on Reinert’s pledge saying, Cindy’s support of term limits shows that there are individuals who are willing to listen to the majority of voters who want term limits. America needs a Congress that will be served by citizen legislators, not career politicians.”

The U.S. Term Limits pledge is provided to candidates and members of state legislatures. It reads, “I pledge that, as a member of the state legislature, I will cosponsor, vote for, and defend the resolution applying for an Article V convention for the limited purpose of enacting term limits on Congress.”

In the 1995 case, Thornton v. U.S. Term Limits, the Supreme Court of the United States opined that only a Constitutional Amendment could limit the terms of U.S. Senators and House Representatives. According to Nick Tomboulides, Executive Director of USTL, the best chance of imposing term limits on Congress is through an Article V Proposal Convention of state legislatures.

“The Constitution allows for amendments to be proposed by either 2/3 of Congress or 2/3 of the states. While we’d like for Congress to take the high road and propose term limits on itself, our goal is to trigger the latter, a national convention specifically for a term limits amendment,” claims Tomboulides. “That is why it is important to get buy-in from state legislators,” he added. Once proposed, the amendment must be ratified by 38 states.

Blumel noted, “More than 82% of Americans have rejected the career politician model and want to replace it with citizen leadership. The way to achieve that goal is through a congressional term limits amendment. Cindy knows this and is willing to work to make sure we reach our goal.”

According to a 2018 nationwide poll on term limits conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, term limits enjoys wide bipartisan support. McLaughlin’s analysis states, “Support for term limits is broad and strong across all political, geographic and demographic groups. An overwhelming 82% of voters approve of a Constitutional Amendment that will place term limits on members of Congress.”

Indiana NOWPAC endorses Cindy Reinert!

Here is Cindy’s statement upon receiving the endorsement from Indiana NOWPAC:

I am extremely thankful to receive this endorsement from IN NOWPAC. The National Organization for Women has a deep meaning for me. I have actively worked for
advocacy for women through education, litigation, and working with the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Many of the main focuses of my campaign are protecting women’s access to reproductive health needs, pregnancy discrimination, equal rights under the law regarding wages, jobs, and education opportunities. Discrimination against women in the workplace, LGBTQ rights, and sexual harrassment are also part of my campaign’s platform.

I have marched with NOW in DC and in Indianapolis. My generation of women helped start the sexual revolution which included access to birth control and the rights of women to control their own bodies. I have always and will continue to stand with NOW in all their advocacy, including involving more women in the political process, and helping to get all people access to the polls.

Thank you NOW, for having confidence in me and my campaign, and I look forward to working closely with you when I am in the IN House of Representatives!

Greenwood, Indiana — Friday February 8, 2018 – Cindy Reinert of Greenwood, retired attorney and entrepreneur, declared her candidacy for Indiana House of Representatives, District 58 on Wednesday, January 24

“I am pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for State House District #58. My career as an attorney, along with my involvement in activism since my teenage years, have well prepared me for serving my community. My goal is to advance solutions addressing the needs and concerns of my district’s residents through state government.”

“The job of a Representative in the State House is to be an advocate for the people, to be their voice and their champion. I will be an integral driver of solutions to that end.”

“I look forward to an energetic and positive campaign, to interacting with the citizens of District 58, to learning more about the wants and needs of my district’s constituents, and, when the campaign is over, to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work tackling and overcoming the challenges that face us.”
